As someone who’s been into Nintendo for a while, I’ve always been curious about various games, Batman games included.
Even though I’ve caught wind of Batman games on social media from time to time, I never really dug into them. Recently, this curiosity made me wonder: What Batman games can I find on the Switch?
This question led me on a little exploration, where I found out that both the “Batman: Arkham” series ports and the “LEGO Batman” series are pretty hot topics among players. I’ll be diving into these games to give you a better idea of what they’re all about.
Batman: Arkham Series
Often called the “Arkham Trilogy,” though there are actually four main games in the series. “Batman: Arkham Asylum,” “Batman: Arkham City,” and “Batman: Arkham Knight” are the core games, all developed by Rocksteady Studios.
1. Batman: Arkham Asylum
This game is all about taking on challenges thrown at you by the Joker, and finally taking him down brings a huge sense of satisfaction.
What stands out the most for me is the vibe of the game. The gothic setting mixed with modern architecture not only brings a dark theme to life but also makes it super immersive. The Scarecrow sequences, especially the one in the morgue, really keep you on your toes.
It’s one of the few games I’ve finished entirely. Though, it sometimes struggles with frame rates during fights in docked mode, which could use some tweaking. In handheld mode, it’s pretty stable at 30fps, making it a solid port.
2. Batman: Arkham City
“Batman: Arkham City” really nails it as the top game of the Arkham series. Whether I play it docked or handheld, it’s super smooth at 30fps, showing off some serious tech finesse. They’ve really polished up a lot from the last game and spun an even cooler story this time around.
The game’s world is like diving into a Batman comic. Every building on the map has its own vibe, from baddie lairs to guard-patrolled rooftops, right down to secret stashes of Riddler loot. It’s all super detailed and really brings Gotham’s shady corners to life.
And man, swooping around as Batman, taking down the bad guys—it’s just epic. The feeling of pulling off those moves and clearing the city of villains is just unbeatable. I got so hooked I ended up playing it all over again on my Xbox 360 and it felt just as awesome as on the Switch.
3. Batman: Arkham Knight
Although I loved the other two games, I feel this one didn’t quite hit the mark. The resolution drops noticeably, especially when zooming around in the Batmobile, where texture pop-ins are glaringly obvious. Plus, the open world often stutters and lags.
The Batmobile, meant to add a new layer of fun, ends up feeling clunky, especially in its racing segments. The puzzles feel dragged out, and the combat isn’t as tight as in “Arkham City.” While you can still get through the main story alright, collecting all the Riddler trophies for a complete ending is a tall order due to bugs making some of them unachievable.
LEGO Batman
There are three “LEGO Batman” games, and after hearing mixed things about “LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham,” I decided to check it out myself.
I think it’s fantastic with an impressive roster of characters, great levels, a vast open world (though the planets can sometimes feel overwhelming), and an engaging overall story. The Batmobile designs are really cool too, though it’s a shame some vehicles are only usable on specific planets. It’s a game I thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish and is definitely worth playing.
After experiencing these Batman games, I’ve found that in addition to the fun of the games themselves, having a good game controller is equally important. Recently, I purchased a Batman-themed game controller designed specifically for the Nintendo Switch. Its design not only matches the dark style of Batman but also offers excellent grip and responsive controls, greatly enhancing my gaming experience.
The design of this Batman Nintendo Switch Controller is quite clever, with simple lines that outline the cool shape of a bat, making the controller look like the wings of a bat when spread out. Besides its appealing appearance, the performance of the controller is also excellent: it has a long battery life, connects easily and quickly, and is very reasonably priced, making it an extremely cost-effective choice.
Exploring these Batman-themed games has been a blast, and each one offers something unique, whether it’s the classic action-detective vibe or the more laid-back LEGO style. Through these games, I’ve not only deepened my understanding of the Batman character but also savored various game designs and storytelling styles.
I’d love to hear your thoughts! Whether you’re a Batman fan or just getting into the series, feel free to share your views on these games or any other recommendations you might have in the comments. Let’s keep sharing and discovering awesome stories about Batman and other superheroes!
